Quality Group Childcare

Colour My World Childcare is a warm, welcoming, inclusive, licensed childcare facility with educated, qualified, loving Early Childhood Educators that will enrich your child’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through PLAY!

A passionate Early Childhood Educator turned her dream into reality and created Colour My World Childcare, a quality, educational childcare centre. Our name is “Colour My World” because children colour the world with their sense of wonder and curiosity. Our hours of operation are 7:30-6:00 Monday to Friday.

We strongly believe that children learn best through play. Play is an important part of child development, and children truly experience so much during play. Un-structured play is the best type of play for children. It allows for children to go at their own pace, getting creative and using their imagination. Children deserve a positive learning environment that gives them ample opportunity to enrich their development through play, as well as learning activities. We incorporate preschool into our full day 3-5 program during the morning. We offer our Educators one day per year for Professional Development. Our Educators continue to further their education for themselves, as well as to enrich your child’s learning in the program.

Our Facility

Colour My World Childcare has chosen natural colours of light brown and a light green for each program. The colours provide a calm, inviting environment and is not overstimulating for children.

Both 3-5 programs are divided into areas for the children to focus on one activity at a time, as well as stations that focus on specific developmental domains. Having the room divided up also minimizes running and rough play. Our infant/toddler program is more of an open concept layout. Toys and materials are attractive to both infants and toddlers, and provide opportunity for fine and gross motor development.

To ensure safety of all children and staff at all times, we keep our doors locked except for drop-off and pick-up times.

Potty Training

We assist with potty training once we see the children showing signs of being ready and/or interest. When families have started potty training their child at home, we will follow at the center.

If Your Child Is Ill

Our sick policy is as follows, Your child must stay home if they have any of the following symptoms:
Coloured runny nose (green/yellow is a sign of infection)
Goopy Eyes
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Fever
Rash
Sore throat
Head lice (cannot return until treated AND lice/nit free)
Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)
Any communicable diseases (if you’d like information or clarification for any of these, please don’t hesitate to ask us)

Please note:

If your child has had diarrhea, vomiting or a fever, they must be away for a minimum of 24 hours and be symptom-free before returning to the center.
If your child has a rash, we require a doctor’s note upon returning to the center, stating that your child is not contagious.
If your child has head lice, they must not return to the center until they’ve been treated with lice shampoo, and are lice AND nit free.
If your child has goopy eyes but does NOT have conjunctivitis, a doctor’s note is required stating your child is not contagious.
If your child has conjunctivitis, they must be given proper eye drops for at least 24 hours and be symptom-free before returning to the center.
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease – this is a common childhood disease that is very contagious and spreads fast. A child must be away from the center for 7-10 days to allow the disease to clear up on its own. A doctor’s note is required upon returning to daycare stating the child is no longer contagious and can return to daycare.
Sometimes, children just don’t feel well. They may not have an illness, but their little bodies may be feeling run down and/or tired, and a child may show signs of being lethargic (not participating, no appetite, etc.).
If we notice a child is showing signs of being lethargic, or just not themselves, we’ll give you a call. The best place for a child to be when they are unwell is at home with their parent(s).

To help prevent the spread of illness, we sanitize toys and materials daily and do a big toy clean (scrub-down) once a week.
